PBIS

Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a nation wide program supported by the Juneau School District to support and increase academic success and behavioral skills by students at Riverbend Elementary School.  It is a school-wide plan that helps all students reach important social and learning goals. We know that when good behavior and good teaching come together, our students will shine in their learning. Riverbend Elementary School is proud to be a part of this exciting program.

As part of the PBIS program, we have established several clear expectations for the behavior we expect in all areas of our school. These expectations (aka: Beaver Behaviors) are: Students will be Respectful, Responsible, Safe, and Kind.  We will clearly teach those expectations to the students and reward them frequently with positive praise.  The expectations for all student behavior is clear throughout our building, including the hallway, bathroom, cafeteria, gymnasium, playground, and classrooms.

Our school expectations will specifically address bullying behaviors, provide for a safer school environment, and give more time for classroom instruction.  By detailing every expected behavior and teaching to kids in a positive way, we will provide a common language for everyone in our building, including students, teachers, front office staff, parents, and our paraprofessionals.

We would like to extend an invitation to you for using the Beaver Behaviors at home.  On our web page, is a Beaver Behavior at Home matrix for you to use or you can make one up yourself with your child.  We would like your input and your involvement. Please contact us at school if you have any questions or need further information.  Thank you for your support!
